BMW lagged Mercedes-Benz in January U.S. sales after getting ahead in December.
Though, BMW brand deliveries rose 3.1% to 16,405 last month in the United States, Mercedes sales rose 24% to 20,306, on the back of C-class model increase of 56%.
Mercedes was second behind BMW last year thanks to the updated C-class sedan and new coupe. BMW hogged the top spot in the luxury segment because of its X3 SUV.
Lexus was third due to production woes in Japan which suffered an earthquake.
Audi sales rose 20% to 9,354 vehicles in Jan, 2012. General Motors’ Cadillac luxury brand was a dip by 29%.
Germany’s sports car maker Porsche sales rose by 6.3% to 2,550 vehicles in the U.S.
Sales of Land Rover rose 41% to 3,205 units last month, while Jaguar sales were up 5 percent to 985, the brands, owned by Mumbai-based Tata Motors, said in an e-mail.

Three lines service the Los Cabos area – SuburCabos, InterBaja, and Transportes del Norte buses run every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. between Cabo San Lucas and Santa Anita (north of the International Airport), with bus stops in the Tourist Corridor. Fares are cheap and quiet affordable.
